OneTeamMVMT, ISA and NZIFSA teamed up to seek funding from the International Skating Union (ISU) Funding for a Synchronized Skating Development Camp which was held Sydney, Australia 20-22 April Ice Skating Australia (ISA) and NZIFSA Australia in April. Three coaches and thirteen skaters from New Zealand attend this camp.
OneTeamMVMT secured the services of Anu Oksanen, coach of the World Champions, Marigold IceUnity of Finland to run this camp, and she brought two of her skaters with her. A truly amazing experience for these synchro skaters. The Allegro Ice Dance Club had 4 skaters from team Titanium attend; Jenna Scholtz, MacKenzie Anderson, Ashley Ip, and Caitlin Rae together with Coach Tracy Hipkiss.
Here are the skaters account of the camp:
“On Friday the 19th of April, we left Auckland to go and take part in the One Team Movement synchro camp held in Sydney, Australia. The camp took place over the Easter weekend for 3 whole days. We were fortunate enough to take part in this camp with coach Anu and two of her skaters from Marigold IceUnity from Finland.
The camp consisted of many different activities that would help us to grow as a team. Our aim is to bring all the new skills we have learnt over the weekend back to our team members that were unable to attend to help our team improve during the year ahead. Along the way we meet a wide variety of different teams and skaters, we met people from Australia, Canada, China, Finland and Japan. The camp was truly an amazing experience that we will never forget. The only negative thing we could say about the camp, was that it should have been at least a week long. We are truly grateful, and we would like to thank Lisa from One Team Movement and NZIFSA for giving us this opportunity. We hope with all our hearts to be able to attend this camp again in the years ahead.”
